NYS is all about the Norwalk and Fairfield County COMMUNITY! We love it here and we're committed to giving back. We especially love to connect with other organizations that promote music and music education. We draw over 200 families from over 30 towns to Norwalk's City Hall every Sunday!

The Norwalk Symphony is one such organization that we have the honor to work with. In addition to sharing the highly-talented Music Director and Conductor, Jonathan Yates, the NSO and NYS hold a Side by Side Concert each year. With Mr. Yates conducting, the members of the NYS Philharmonia Strings perform with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra to a packed house. This event is a family affair, for both young and old, and is always a well attended community performance.

Another partner in music education is the InTake Organization. InTake is a Stamford-based nonprofit, arts organization, that promotes music education through multiculturalism and native instruments.  Each year members of NYS Concert Orchestra perform with musicians from InTake at a special event.

Chamber Music Central provides opportunities for music students to perform in smaller chamber groups, and NYS students who wish to be in chamber groups do so through CMC.

Whether it's a parent volunteer picking up the weekly snacks from Stew Leonard's, or our Executive Director making a deposit at the local bank, or our musicians performing at the Maritime Aquarium, or at a local assisted living facility, we look forward to connecting with people.
